About Kent

Who Kent Ribordy is

This race is being held in honor of Kent Ribordy, a 16-year-old boy who loved farming and country music, water skiing and snow skiing, snowmobiles, go-carts, tractors and his pick-up truck.

He loved to play, but his work ethic was legendary. From helping his grandpa on the farm to his dad at work, from helping a friend out of hard times to even a stranger in need, Kent was always willing to lend a hand. A shy boy, he grew into an outgoing young man with an uncanny ability to connect with people – to make them laugh, encourage their passions, commiserate with their concerns and push them to be their best.

At an age when many kids are struggling to find their way, he was sure of himself and his opinions – and he was never afraid to speak his mind.

Kent died of leukemia on June 17, 2007, and although his loss has left a hole in the lives of those who knew him, his passion and intensity has left an indelible imprint on our hearts.

Kent didn’t just live life; he loved it – and he inspired those around him to love it, too.
